We are happy to invite you to join the 2019 iTaLAM Summer Training Institutes.

The teacher courses this year have been revamped with a focus on experiential learning and differentiated instruction!

  • NEW! Workshops to adapt the curriculum to fit the time constraints in your school
  • NEW! Practical workshops for teaching in small groups (rotation) or a teaching model for full class instruction with individualized work on the digital component.
  • NEW! Administrator and Hebrew/Judaic Studies Coordinator path – Only two days.
  • NEW! At Ramat Rachel – Special sessions for Shlichim who will be teaching iTaLAM
  • We continue to differentiate with a special track for veteran iTaLAM teachers

The face to face training will take place on the following dates and places:

  • June 24 – 27, 2019 in Wilshire Grand Hotel, New Jersey, USA
  • July 15 – 18, 2019 at Ramat Rachel, Jerusalem, Israel

Administrators, coordinators and teachers who cannot attend the face to face training will have the opportunity to participate in online training with synchronized video conference meetings or personalized training/coaching.

What do you need to bring to the training institute?

  • A computer and charger: You cannot use the Learning Management System (LMS) on an iPad. Therefore, we recommend that you bring a Windows laptop or a Chromebook.
  • Headphones
  • Your teacher username and password for iTaLAM (if you have one)
  • A good mood and a willingness to learn and share

What time does the training begin and when does it end?

  • When you make your travel arrangements, please plan to arrive prior to the start of the program and depart after its conclusion.
  • Check in and registration begin at 8:30 AM on the first day of the training.
  • First session begins at 10:00 AM on the first day of training ant at 9:00 AM on all other days.
  • Each evening, after dinner there will be either a choice of special workshops or a special evening activity.
  • Training ends at 4:00 PM on the final day of the training.
  • Administrators/Coordinators whose track ends on Tuesday, are welcome to stay for the evening program Tuesday night. Please let us know if you plan to stay so that we can make arrangement for your dinner.

Cancellation Policy
  • Up to 14 days before the institute: full refund
  • Up to 7 days before the institute: 50% refund of the full price
  • After 7 days before the institute, or non-attendance: 20% refund of the full price

Important Information

iTaL AM 1, 2 , 3, 4 and 5  Training Institutes in parallel tracks are offered in different locations twice during the year:

 

The Summer iTaLAM Institute – Part I of the Training Institute presents theory and methodology underlying the iTaLAM program, and introduces the units studied during the first half of the school year. 

 

The Mid-year or Winter iTaLAM Institute – Part II of the Training Institute is devoted to the units studied during the second half of the school year, while continuing to expand on the pedagogical approach of iTaLAM.

*Please do not make travel arrangements until we confirm the availability of these tracks.

 

  • In grades 1, 2, 3 and 4, iTaLAM and TaL AM are fully integrated and complementary to one another. Therefore, if you register for one of these grades, you will be training for both iTaLAM and TaL AM.

Training Institute Benefits

The institutes enable participants to:

  • Study the brain-based learning principles of iTaLAM.
  • Learn the methodology of Communicative & Heritage Language and Literacy Development.
  • Become acquainted with the content, concepts, skills and material of the program.

  • Learn how to assess students’ achievements and use results for planned instruction.
  • Observe alternative teaching approaches and ways of organizing the classroom.
  • Fine-tune instructional skills to serve students’ varied learning styles and needs.
  • Learn to prepare a classroom portfolio and utilize it to communicate the achievements of each student, the curriculum learned, and its linkage to the next grade.

Winter 2020 Training Institutes

Winter 2020 iTaLAM training will take place on February 10 – 13, 2020 at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in West Orange, New Jersey.
